Step One: Requirements Development

Step Four: Scripted Demonstrations

Step Five: Reference Checks

Once you’ve seen each system demonstrated from the vendor’s perspective, it is essential to conduct reference interviews with their clients to gain insight into their level of satisfaction with the solution, as well as the vendor.  Reference checks are extremely important in this process and should always be conducted by the client.

Step Six: Site Visits – Vendors and References

Vendor site visits provide an opportunity to delve further into the commercial requirements – contractual terms and conditions, software upgrades, on-going maintenance, etc. – and meet with key personnel who will be your strategic technology partners.  Reference site visits provide the opportunity to observe the functionality of the potential software solution in a comparable business environment, allowing you the chance to ask specific questions regarding the execution of processes and tasks as they relate to your operation.
